In the Genes?
So, I was planning on posting a picture of a fun project I completed at MOPS, however there are other pressing matters I must post about first. The crafty project can come later.
Yesterday, my cute son found his hands. Cute, right? The problem is...
Will I really have a thumb su*cker? I su*cked my thumb until I was way too old, and I don't want to see that for my children. Today he's been non-stop with the thumb. *Sigh* I think braces are going to be inevitable. We'll continue swaddling during naps and overnight just to keep those fingers out of the mouth, in hopes that he won't become dependent. Looking on the bright side...there's a blessing in the thumb su*cking, he won't lose it. However, I dread the day when we have to break him of the habit.

LOL.
The same thoughts ran through my mind the first time my son found his thumb. We were fortunate. He only tried it a few times and he was done with the thumb sucking.
Oh, but its such an adorable picture! :)
Mine always tried their thumb but I was quick to put a pacifier in. Just broke Elle of hers this past summer. Now its just Colin.
Did I say that picture is adorable? 'Cause it really is
very cute. maddie is a thumb sucker too. she only sucks it a naps & at night, so it hasn't been a problem. she doesn't seem "addicted" to it. it actually can be a nice thing, at least that's what i've found. it helps them to self soothe and you're not always running to put a paci in the mouth....a 3 year old with a pacifier is as bad as a thumb sucker. (but i quess you can take the paci, not cut off the thumb)
either way, adorable pic.
First the picture is just so cute. I mean, really adorable!
Second, I hope it doesn't become a habit...beats sucking a blanket corner till it is brown and gross though...ahem.
Whatever works, thats what I've always said. Jack is a thumb sucker big time and I don't worry about it. He does it right before he is ready for nap or bed-no big deal. If its one thing I've learned about parenting, you can't control everything. And like the others said, that picture is adorable. Enjoy it. He won't be sucking at 30. -Katrina
