Thousand Words

Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but there are some things that are not captured in those 1000 words.

Liam, he is a ham. He loves to pretend. I can get pictures of him playing on the floor with his trains, cars, or action figures. That would tell a piece of the story, but not all. He loves to run. Now this is a bit more tricky with photography. How to I capture him running, what it looks like and sounds like it one picture? I can't....yes, I've tried.

I used to be much better about keeping a journal for my kids, I'm horrible at it now. Not because I don't have the time, though that is a factor. Not because I forget or notice, though that too is a factor. It's really because I take so many pictures, and pictures do tell much of a story. Now with digital, they even tell time and date.

Liam has this thing with running. He loves it, he runs everywhere...even in small spaces, around in circles. At night he often has this routine of making an obstacle course for himself involving pillows, stools, chairs, couches, whatever. He then 'starts his motor'. He becomes a car. He'll make a revving sound, take two steps back, run in place for a moment then burst forward all while running his motor. This is Liam, pretty much on a daily basis. He is a car.

Unfortunately, this is something I can't capture on camera, but it's something I want to remember. It defines this stage of life for him.
