Lost Tooth

The night before Audrey's 5th birthday she informed me that her baby teeth were going to start falling out. I wanted to ease her disappointment, that it might not happen overnight, and it might not even be this year. Within a couple of days Audrey wanted to know if her teeth were falling out yet. She opened her mouth wide so that I could inspect. I was fully ready to make this a dramatic, silly event, but before saying anything I noticed two white spots just behind her bottom, front baby teeth. What could that be?!?! I inspected further, completely forgetting my silly routine, and sure enough those were 'grown-up' teeth coming in. No!! STOP!! It couldn't be...she JUST turned five.

Several months later, she had her dentist appointment where she was informed that the two baby teeth will probably have to be extracted. Not even a month later, there was an ever so slight movement with one of her teeth. Whew...no extraction needed.

We are now a little less than a week prior to her half birthday (so roughly 6 months since those pesky 'grown-up' teeth showed signs of emerging). After enjoying breakfast, which was hard to manage with a dangling tooth, Audrey asked us to help her pull it. With the help of plyers the tooth came out.

So it's now official, Audrey's getting older. I can't stand it, but it's yet another thing I'll have to just get used to.
