Tiny Talk Tuesday

Audrey is the talker in this house, from the time she wakes up to the time she goes down. She's 3, and has much to say.

I will be doing a
10K walk/jog in early April...
Me: Audrey we will go back down to see Ashley (her cousin) in April when Mommy runs a race with Uncle Jordan, Aunt Becca, and Uncle Brock. Will you cheer me on when I run?
Audrey: Yes, I'll be Quincy. "I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!!" (once again, little ein*stein)
(wasn't quite what I was thinking for 'cheer me on'. I know I'm not the most athletic person, but does my 3 year old have to understand that too?)
_____________________________________________________
Night-time pondering...
Audrey: Mommy, I don't want to jump over a candle stick......(long, long pause)....it would burn me. Why did Jack do that?
_____________________________________________________
Audrey: Is Bruce a shark? (meaning Bruce from Fin*ding Ne*mo)
Me: Yes, he's a shark.
Audrey: Does he eat fish?
Me: Yes, shark's eat fish.
Audrey: But, I don't want to meet Bruce because he might think I'm a fish and try to eat me.

3 and a half

It's the small things, the 6 month markers. I'm hit with it double time. Audrey and Liam's birthdays are 9 days apart, so here we are at the "half" mark. Prior to this year I really didn't point out Audrey's half birthday, but she's at that age when birthdays are a HUGE deal, so I thought it would be fun to do a little something special for her half birthday. Nothing big deal, although we did get to visit her cousin, and that's a big deal! We just spent some time together making cupcakes, her favorite (or so she says, but I'M the one who HAD to eat them all, she a fruit girl...wish I had that gene).

It suddenly hit me that I'll have a FOUR year old in just a few months, and I'll have a 5 year old in 18 months. Why is that so crazy to me??? I know, I know slow it down it's not tomorrow. I'm terribly guilty of wishing the next phase to come faster, but then wishing to go back in time. We're seeing signs of getting out of the 3 year old "attitude" phase, which gives me great relief. She's a spunky girl, and so full of life giving us lots of laughs. She's a leader and has her own mind in doing things. It has been intimidating raising a child with a strong personality, but covered well in prayer as we want God to take hold of her life, and guide her to be a strong, Godly woman glorifying her Heavenly Father.

Here she is telling us about the ring that her future husband (Hunter) is going to get her. She is really into planets.

Valentine's Day

It's a day to celebrate the ones we love. Here's a picture of a couple of my loves in a tenderhearted moment. One of those posed shots that didn't go as well as hoped, but in the end catching a shot that is precious.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Audrey is the talker in this house, from the time she wakes up to the time she goes down. She's 3, and has much to say.

Audrey is into making presents for the characters of Little Einstein...
Audrey: I want to make a card for Quincy.
Me: How about if you make a card for real people, like Daddy.
Audrey: Quincy's not real?
(she was so sad, I crushed her world in one single blow)
Later...

Audrey: Mommy, is Rocket real?

(
and all this time I thought we were avoiding this by not doing Santa)
___________________________________________________
Miss Kara (a friend of mine): Audrey, what chores do you like to do? Do you like to help Mommy do laundry, empty the dish washer...?

Audrey: I like to find ladybugs.
(okay...I guess I was unaware that was added to the chore chart) ___________________________________________________
Audrey and I were running to the park together.
Audrey: Can we walk, my belly is hurting.
Me: Do you need to catch your breath?
Audrey: Yeah, let's run again.
2 minutes later...
Audrey: Mommy, we need to slow down so that I can find my breath.
___________________________________________________
Audrey: Do you know who the Steeler's are?
Me: Yep, they are Daddy's favorite football team.
Audrey: Someday I'LL be a football team.
___________________________________________________
Audrey is REALLY into volcanoes. She has been spending time at home and with her Grammy learning about volcanoes.
Our dog, Bandit, was born in Hawaii, which she has also learned about in her research about volcanoes.
Audrey: Bandit was made from obsidian in Hawaii.
Me: uh-huh. (translation: uh...um...what is obsidian? Thanks to Grammy she learns all kinds of new words.)
___________________________________________________
Audrey: Mommy, are you going to have 4 babies?
Me: Would you like me to have 4 babies?
Audrey: No, just me and Liam, and you're DONE!
(I guess the boss has spoken!)

Volcanoes

Audrey is one to jump into something and really learn about it. When she gets her mind on something we get books from the library, look at images online, possibly watch movies about it, whatever we get our hands on to learn more, she wants it. I'm seeing more and more of Albert in her. For a while it was anything about butterflies and caterpillars. Recently, it has been volcanoes, which she used to call "potanoes" (it took us a long time to realize she wasn't saying potatoes).

I'm not sure if it was Dora or Diego that first introduced a volcano to her. She would mention them every once in awhile, usually when making up an "adventure" that had all kinds of obstacles, including climbing a volcano, "...but be careful of the hot lava". She had no idea what a volcano really was, so we began to talk about them further.

My Mom had gone to Mexico and saw "Popo", so much of her discussion with Grammy was about that particular volcano. They began looking at images of Popo online, and talking about hot lava. With my Mom's creative touch, and having taught 2nd grade, she knew how to make a volcano. She took Audrey for a day, and began the wonderful adventure of making Audrey's VERY OWN volcano. She got her hands wet, built the volcano, waited for it to dry, then painted it grey (because that's the color of Popo). When that dried she painted the "toasty, hot lava".

Once the volcano (aka Popo) was looking just right, an added touch of baking soda and vinegar, made the creation complete. She is very proud of her creation, and I am very proud of my little sponge. She amazes me with her knowledge, and thirst for learning more. I love being able to teach her new things, and seeing her excitement as she learns.

We're onto Planets next (thanks Little Einstein). I have a lot to learn...

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Audrey is the talker in this house, from the time she wakes up to the time she goes down. She's 3, and has much to say.

I was horrible about updating this post for the week, so we're slim pickin's, but at least I have one...

Audrey: Daddy, don't touch my jewelry box, it's sensitive.
